On Lake Powell the houseboat reservation is the trip. Rentals come out of Wahweap (south, near Page) and Bullfrog (north) through the park concessioner, and summer boats are claimed well in advance. Decide your marina and dates before anything else.

Getting there
Arrival note
The south end centers on Page, Arizona, about 4.5 hours from Las Vegas and 2.5 hours from Flagstaff, with Wahweap Marina just outside town.
Car strategy
The north end is reached through Bullfrog, a long drive across southern Utah.
Transfer plan
A vehicle is essential to reach either marina, and a boat is what unlocks the canyon country beyond the shoreline.

Houseboats are rented through the park concessioner, Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas (Aramark), at lakepowell.com, out of Wahweap Marina near Page or Bullfrog Marina on the north end. Summer dates book months ahead, and reserving early earns the best rates.
The NPS lists a $30 fee per private vehicle, valid for 7 days. A Glen Canyon annual pass is $55. Boating and camping fees are charged separately from the vehicle entrance fee.
Yes. Lake Powell levels fluctuate, and low water can close or relocate boat ramps and change access to side canyons and to Rainbow Bridge. Check current ramp and lake-level status on the NPS site before launching.
Primitive shoreline and beach camping is allowed in much of the recreation area, but you must follow current rules, including packing out human waste, and confirm that the water level still gives you access. Developed campgrounds sit beside the Wahweap and Bullfrog marinas.
